Mumbai, 1 November: SC Delhi scored three times in the last 20 minutes to beat Mumbai City FC 3-2 in the MG Indian Super League (ISL) 2026-27 at the Mumbai Football Arena on Sunday. Mumbai City led 2-0 at half-time through Muhammad Ajsal and Zothanpuia, before Carlos Fortes, Akshat Mehra and Juan Pena turned the game around.

Mumbai City take control

The hosts started quickly. In the fourth minute Akash Mishra’s through ball found Ajsal, whose shot was saved, and Zothanpuia’s follow-up was blocked. Two minutes later Ajsal played a one-two with Noufal and scored after a defensive error from Lamgoulen Hangshing. It was Mumbai City’s first open-play goal of the season.

Duvan Viafara shot just over for SC Delhi in the 12th minute, and young Mumbai City forward Hridaya Jain lifted a chance over the bar in the 23rd after a cushioned pass from Ajsal.

Mumbai City made it 2-0 in the 27th minute. Noufal ran down the left and crossed for Zothanpuia, who finished with his right foot. SC Delhi hit the crossbar in the 35th minute when Mohammad Azhar curled a shot from Sourav’s lay-off.

Substitutes change the game

SC Delhi made two changes at the break, bringing on Richard Ndayishimaye for Azhar and Ashutosh Mehta for Lamgoulen. Jain had another chance in the 58th minute, but Clarence Fernandes blocked him with a sliding tackle, and Mumbai City goalkeeper TP Rehenesh tipped away a long-range shot from Pena two minutes later.

Fortes came on in the 71st minute and scored two minutes later. Rehenesh spilled a corner, Mehta picked up the loose ball and set up Fortes for a tap-in.

Mehra, on as an 88th-minute substitute, made it 2-2 in stoppage time. He took a pass from Ndayishimaye and curled a shot that Rehenesh could only push into his own net. In the 94th minute Pena ran at the Mumbai City defence, beat two players and scored the winner.

SC Delhi had lost 3-2 to Bengaluru FC earlier in the season, when Menno Koch scored an 89th-minute winner.
