Hisar : A 30-year-old man and his wife drowned in a water tank at a village waterworks in Gaibipur , in the Barwala area of Hisar district, on Friday afternoon. Their three-year-old son was rescued by villagers. The woman was reportedly around seven months pregnant.




The incident occurred around 3 pm. The deceased, identified as Rajkumar and Sunita , earned their livelihood as daily-wage workers.




According to local residents, Sunita had gone to the water tank with her young son when she allegedly fell into the water. The child also fell in, following which Rajkumar, who had reached the spot, reportedly jumped into the tank in an attempt to rescue them.




A woman passing by noticed the family in distress and raised an alarm, prompting nearby villagers to rush to the spot. They managed to pull the child out safely, but Rajkumar and Sunita remained trapped in the deep water.




Villagers later pulled both adults out and alerted the police and administration. Barwala police reached the spot, and all three were taken to the govt hospital in Barwala. Doctors declared Rajkumar and Sunita dead, while the child was admitted for treatment.




Police are carrying out further proceedings and investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
