Hisar/ Fatehabad : Farmers protested over fertiliser shortages and alleged lack of crop procurement at MSP in Haryana on Monday, with All India Kisan Sabha members staging a protest at the New Anaj Mandi in Fatehabad and farmers blocking the Fatehabad-Chopta road in Bhattu over delayed DAP distribution.




Staging a protest at the Market Committee office in New Anaj Mandi here on Monday, the Kisan Sabha said no kharif crop had so far been procured at MSP and farmers were being forced to sell their produce at lower prices.




The Hisar tehsil unit of the Kisan Sabha also raised the issue of fertiliser availability. Protesters gathered at shop No. 187 in the grain market and submitted a memorandum to the Market Committee secretary.




Kisan Sabha leaders said cooperative society employees cited technical issues with the portal for not distributing fertiliser to farmers. The protesters claimed around 800 bags of fertiliser were available in the warehouse but were not being supplied to farmers.




The union warned of intensifying the agitation if the issues were not resolved.



Road blocked in Fatehabad




Despite waiting in queues since 4am, farmers had to leave without fertiliser, prompting them to block the Fatehabad-Chopta road in Bhattu over the delay.




Farmers, led by All India Kisan Sabha district president Comrade Vishnu Dutt Sharma , submitted a memorandum to the naib tehsildar.




Police and revenue officials, including city SHO and naib tehsildar, reached the spot to pacify the protesters. Farmers lifted the blockade after assurance from officials that fertiliser distribution would resume soon.



‘Software glitch’




IFFCO Kisan Centre staff said a technical glitch in the official distribution software had prevented the updating of batch numbers and farmer data, making it impossible to issue slips and fertiliser.




They said adequate DAP stock was available and distribution would begin once the software issue was resolved.
