Shimla: A 40-year-old woman and her six-year-old daughter were killed after a Punjab-registered tipper truck rolled backwards and crashed into shanties of migrant workers in the Bathri industrial area of Haroli in Una district Sunday evening.




According to preliminary information, the tipper, associated with a crusher unit , was climbing a slope when it suddenly rolled backwards and fell into a nearly 10-foot-deep pit, crashing onto the shanties below.




Rinku Devi and her daughter Komal Kumari , who were inside their shanty, died on the spot. The tipper driver reportedly fled the scene following the accident.




Police have initiated an investigation into the accident and launched a search for the absconding driver.
