BMW India has had a big year in terms of car sales and the German Luxury carmaker is now preparing for more products across segments.
The i5 LWB was unveiled in India and this is a locally assembled version unlike the previous i5 which was sold as an import and in the standard wheelbase version.

The new i5 LWB will be more competitive in pricing and is the second ev to be assembled in Chennai after the iX1.
The i5 LWB gets a 81.6 kWh battery pack and a range of 669km.
Power is from a single electric motor.
The i5 LWB will be offered with a rear axle air suspension too while ground clearance has been increased for India.
The i5 LWB will be sold alongside the petrol model which is also sold in a long wheelbase form.
Compared to the earlier i5, the new i5 LWB would be cheaper and more affordable with more comfort plus luxury.
We expect the prices to be under Rs 1 Cr.
BMW also launched the X1 LWB in India at Rs 49.90 lakh while it is available with a petrol engine only.
The standard X1 is also on sale but with a diesel engine also.

The X1 LWB has a 156 bhp 1.5l turbo petrol and has a 108mm longer wheelbase.

The rear seat has been improved and the suspension is more comfortable too.

The X1 LWB also has more power vs the standard X1 while the features list has also been tweaked.
The X1 LWB is the only long wheelbase model available in its segment while it will join the iX1 LWB in India.
