New Delhi: England batter Joe Root has achieved a historic milestone during the second Test match against New Zealand at the Kennington Oval in London on Saturday, June 20. He became only the second batter, after legendary Sachin Tendulkar, to complete 14,000 runs in Test cricket.
Root needed just two runs to reach the feat in the second innings and achieved it in the seventh over, bowled by Matt Henry. Root achieved the milestone in 302 innings, while Tendulkar took only 279 innings to cross the 14,000-run mark. The 36-year-old English batter has an average of 50.78 in 165* Test matches, smashing 41 hundreds and 66 fifties since making his debut against India in 2012.
