TRIBUNJATIMTIMUR.COM – AC Milan continues to make strategic moves. A German coach has reportedly agreed to join, while a former Manchester United figure has yet to confirm his arrival.

As widely known, AC Milan has been restructuring several key positions, ranging from the head coach to the CEO, following the 2025/2026 season.

Concerning the coaching role, the Rossoneri are on the hunt for a new tactician after parting ways with Massimiliano Allegri.

Several names have been linked to the position, including Mauricio Pochettino, Matthias Jaissle, and Arne Slot.

According to a recent report from Football Italia, former Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner from Germany has emerged as the leading candidate for the AC Milan head coach role.

The same source stated that Oliver Glasner has already held meetings with AC Milan representatives.

The latest meeting reportedly took place on Tuesday.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Glasner presented his preferred playing philosophy for Milan in front of Gerry Cardinale and Zlatan Ibrahimović. The Italian newspaper also claimed that he is now only waiting for AC Milan’s final approval before officially taking over as head coach.

If the deal with AC Milan falls through, La Gazzetta dello Sport suggests that Oliver Glasner plans to take a short break before seeking another opportunity with a top club around mid-season of 2026–27.

Meanwhile, the current head coach of the United States national team, Mauricio Pochettino, who is busy preparing for the 2026 World Cup, is described as AC Milan’s second-choice option at present.

Alongside the coaching search, AC Milan is also looking to fill the sporting director position following the departure of Igli Tare.

In this regard, former Manchester United figure Ralf Rangnick has emerged as a primary candidate.

However, Ralf Rangnick is currently focused on preparing the Austrian national team for the World Cup in their training camp, and the latest reports indicate that the Austrian Football Federation is considering offering him a new contract extension lasting until EURO 2028.

La Gazzetta dello Sport also noted that the appointment of Oliver Glasner is not entirely dependent on whether Ralf Rangnick decides to join AC Milan or not.

Another potential alternative to Ralf Rangnick is former Barcelona sporting director Ramon Planes.
