IPL 2026 Qualifier 2 Toss Controversy: In the second qualifier match of IPL 2026, Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals are clashing at the Maharaja Yadvendra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh. Before the start of the match, at the time of the toss, a scene was seen which surprised everyone. There was confusion on the field for a few seconds during the toss and later the coin had to be tossed again.

Match referee could not hear Riyan Parag’s call

Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill and Rajasthan Royals captain Ryan Parag reached the field for the toss. Shubman Gill tossed the coin, while Riyan Parag was responsible for making the call. Parag called ‘Head’, but match referee Prakash Bhatt could not hear his voice clearly. After the coin fell on the ground, there was confusion for a few moments.

Ravi Shastri, who was present on the spot, also clarified that the call was not heard clearly, hence the toss would be made again. After this the coin was tossed again. For the second time Riyan Parag said ‘Heads’ loudly and this time the coin also fell towards heads.

Rajasthan chose to bat first

After winning the toss again, Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag decided to bat first. After the toss, he said that the wicket looks fine in the beginning, but as the match progresses, the pitch may become slow. Parag believed that his team’s bowlers could take advantage of this situation later. He also said that only that team will win in this match which plays better cricket for the entire 40 overs. Rajasthan is trying to make it to the finals and the team does not want to leave any stone unturned in this important match.

Shubman Gill looked disappointed

On the other hand, Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill did not seem completely happy with the result of the toss. Gill also wanted to bat first. After the toss was over, he immediately went to the team’s head coach Ashish Nehra and was seen discussing the entire situation.

Gill said that his team would also have liked to bat first. According to him, a lot of cricket has already been played on the pitch and now there is no possibility of much change in it. Describing this match as ‘do or die’, he said that the team is going to give its all.
