The singer issued a public apology on May 14 shortly after authorities announced she had not been prosecuted due to “insufficient grounds for criminal charges” and that she was considered a “beneficiary” in a case involving the illegal possession and use of drugs on Cat Ba Island in Hai Phong City.

In a press release, she stated: “Using illegal substances was a serious mistake that goes against the moral standards and lifestyle expected of an artist, and it has had deeply negative consequences.”

“Miu Le is fully aware that her actions have harmed the community and set a bad example, especially for young people. Miu Le feels deeply ashamed and regretful for this,” the statement read.

Do Hoang Vu, a representative of Miu Le’s management company, said the singer would pay the fines for illegal drug use and strictly comply with one year of local supervisory measures.

Miu Le and two others, Tran Minh Trang and Vu Khuong An, have not been criminally charged.
