Mitchell McClenaghan shared his thoughts on Kyle Jamieson's intense celebration during the IPL 2026 match between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Jaipur. In a post-match discussion on JioHotstar, following the Royals' seven-wicket victory, McClenaghan noted that Jamieson's reaction after taking the wicket of young batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was fueled by the high stakes of the game.

"That was a pivotal moment, and you could feel the emotion in his celebration. Dismissing a young player who has been performing well throughout the tournament naturally elicits such a response," McClenaghan explained.

The incident took place in the second over of the Royals' innings when Jamieson celebrated after getting Sooryavanshi out. The IPL later confirmed that Jamieson received a demerit point and a warning for violating Level 1 of the IPL Code of Conduct during the match at Sawai Mansingh Stadium. His aggressive approach towards Sooryavanshi could have incited a reaction from the batter. However, McClenaghan remarked that there was a distinct Kiwi flair in Jamieson's response, highlighting the heightened emotions during critical moments. "There's definitely a Kiwi touch to it, being energized in such a crucial situation. When you expect pressure but get an early breakthrough, that intensity often reflects in the celebration," he added.

Starc's Influence Recognized as a Game-Changer

McClenaghan also praised Mitchell Starc's significant impact on the game, emphasizing the Australian pacer's knack for making an immediate difference, even when not at his best. "Starc brings the aura of a proven match-winner. Even if he isn't at his peak right away, his quality becomes evident quickly. Like other top bowlers, he just needs a few deliveries to find his rhythm, and once he does, his pace and precision shine through," he stated.

Starc made his IPL 2026 debut after recovering from an injury, claiming three wickets and playing a crucial role in Delhi's important win over the inaugural champions. McClenaghan noted, "Bowling in the mid-140s and targeting those key areas is crucial. For Delhi Capitals, having a reliable bowler like him is invaluable, especially in critical moments when a breakthrough is needed most."

DC Achieves Record Chase to Secure Victory

Delhi Capitals accomplished a remarkable 226-run chase, marking their highest in IPL history, to defeat Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets. The chase was set up by a solid 110-run opening partnership between KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka, with Tristan Stubbs and Ashutosh Sharma completing the task with five balls to spare.

Earlier, Riyan Parag (90) and Donovan Ferreira (47*) propelled RR to a total of 225/6, while Mitchell Starc took three wickets. This victory marked DC's fourth win of the season, placing them sixth in the standings, while RR remained in fourth position.
