News India Live, Digital Desk: The dark shadow of fixing in the T20 World Cup 2026 has shocked cricket lovers. ICC’s anti-corruption unit has put a group stage match played between Canada and New Zealand in Chennai under the scanner. Canadian captain at the center of allegations Dilpreet Bajwa One over and the board’s alleged interference in team selection.


What is the whole matter?


The CBC documentary claims that some incidents occurred during the match against New Zealand that raise questions about the integrity of the game:


Doubtful overs: When New Zealand were struggling at 35/2, captain Dilpreet Bajwa himself took charge of the bowling. He started his over with a no-ball and then wide on the leg side with, and ultimately in that over 15 runs Spoiled. This over has now been placed under ICC investigation.


Audio clip revealed: A 58-minute audio recording has also surfaced, in which board members can purportedly be heard giving instructions to bookies regarding team selection.


Coach pressure: Former coach Khurram Chauhan had also alleged that senior members of the board had put pressure on him to include certain players in the team.


ICC’s response


Andrew Effgrave, Interim General Manager of the ICC’s Integrity Unit, confirmed that the ACU is aware of the allegations made in the documentary and is thoroughly investigating them. “Wherever the dignity of the game appears to be in danger, we will investigate as per our standard procedures,” he said.


Cricket Canada’s administrative crisis


This is not the first time Cricket Canada has been in controversy. The appointment and subsequent removal of former CEO Salman Khan last year (following allegations of theft and fraud) had already tarnished the board’s image. Apart from this, there was a huge delay in the players getting the prize money for the 2024 World Cup.


What will happen next?


If the investigation finds strong evidence of fixing, not only can the players concerned be banned for life, but the ICC can also take a strict decision on Cricket Canada’s recognition.
