No golfer in history has earned more on the course than Tiger Woods. However, an unsuspecting star on the PGA Tour can at least hold a candle to the 15-time major champion's hulking net worth. Golf great Woods is understood to be worth close to £1billion, with roughly 10 per cent of that stemming from his PGA Tour prize money. However, the vast majority of his wealth has been created thanks to his partnership with Nike and other brand endorsements, along with a litany of investments that have paid dividends over the years.
Woods, 50, can attest to the fact he earned his riches almost single-handedly. The same isn't true for Maverick McNealy, though he's nonetheless high up on golf's rich list given he's set to inherit a considerable chunk of his dad's £750million empire. McNealy's father, Scott, is worth close to 10 figures after building a fortune in the tech industry. And in many ways, it only makes Maverick's success on the course that much more impressive considering he had few worries in the financial sector before he ever picked up a club.
Without any knowledge of the pocket money policy in the McNealy household, it's a safe bet to assume Maverick would have been looked after if he didn't become a pro golfer. Nonetheless, he remains a self-made success in that regard and is in the form of his career ahead of the first major of 2026.
Father Scott got in on the tech boom before Silicon Valley exploded in the 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s. He's most famous as the co-founder of Sun MicroSystems, which developed computer hardware, software and IT services before it was sold in 2009.

Tech multinational Oracle acquired Sun for $5.6bn, which would equate to roughly £6.3bn in today's money. It's uncertain exactly how much Scott took as his individual share of that deal, though it contributed heavily to his estimated present-day net worth of almost £1bn.
To give a sense of Sun's scale, the company's former 1,000,000,000-square foot headquarters in California was sold to Facebook in 2011. After Sun was sold, McNealy Sr went on to play a role in several other startups, including a golf app called 18Birdies.
Still, Maverick is the family's true force around the fairways. And it showed in 2025 after the 30-year-old competed in all four majors in the same calendar year for the first time in his career.

McNealy Jr, who also attended Harvard, was once the top-ranked amatuer in the world and currently sits 24th in the OWGR rankings. His sole PGA Tour triumph came at the RSM Classic in 2024, but he's steadily building his case to contest more titles in future.
McNealy has collected roughly £15.6m in PGA winnings since his tour debut in 2017, not even a fifth of Woods' career prize money. There's still time left to close the gap, however, as he looks to keep building his own impressive legacy in the sport.
