Rajeev Shukla, the vice president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), shared his thoughts on Australia's surprising departure from the ongoing T20 World Cup. He emphasized that this incident showcases the unpredictable nature and inherent charm of cricket.

In a recent post on the social media platform X, Shukla expressed his astonishment at the early exit of the Australian team, led by Mitchell Marsh. He stated, "Australia is out of the World Cup. People never imagined it. This is the true beauty of cricket."

How Zimbabwe Eliminated Australia

Australia's exit from the tournament came after Zimbabwe secured a spot in the Super Eight stage, following their Group match against Ireland, which was canceled due to rain in Pallekele on Tuesday.

With the match being abandoned, Zimbabwe advanced to the Super Eight stage, marking them as the seventh team to qualify. This outcome effectively concluded the T20 World Cup journey for both Australia and Ireland.

After sharing points with Ireland, Zimbabwe now holds five points from three matches, while Australia has only two points and cannot surpass Sikandar Raza's team, even if they win their final group match against Oman on Friday.

Zimbabwe has been placed in Super Eight Group G1, alongside India, South Africa, and the West Indies, with matches set to take place in India.

Following this match, Zimbabwe ranks second in Group B on the points table, just behind co-hosts Sri Lanka, who secured their Super Eights spot by defeating Australia by eight wickets on Monday.

Zimbabwe previously achieved a 23-run victory over Australia and won their opening match against Oman in the ongoing T20 World Cup.
