As soon as this system working through AI is implemented, you will not need to stop your vehicle and toll tax will be deducted automatically. This will save speech. Fuel consumption will reduce and highway travel will become faster and easier than before. This change is going to prove to be a game changer for millions of passengers.

How will toll be deducted on the new system?

The government is soon implementing multi-lane free flow electronic toll collection system in the country. Which will be completely barrier free. In this, AI technology will work with RFID based Fastag and Automatic Number Plate Recognition i.e. ANPR.

Fastag will remain on the windshield of your vehicle and toll will be deducted from the linked account. Whereas ANPR cameras scan your number plate. Will identify with the help of AI and get toll deducted. Even if FASTag does not work, the system will identify the vehicle and the toll will be deducted automatically.

NPCI NETC Platform and Testing

NPCI’s NETC platform connects toll collections across the country into a single unified system. In the new electronic system, Fastag and ANPR will be linked to this platform. The government first tested it at 10 toll plazas. Where the results were good. It is being implemented in selected plazas in the next phase and after successful testing, it will be gradually spread across the country.
