Search Continues for Missing Fisherman


Balasore: After three days of uncertainty, the body of one of four fishermen from Odisha who disappeared while fishing has been found along the Balasore coast, according to local authorities.




The group had set out to sea on Saturday morning, and while two members were rescued, one remains unaccounted for.




The deceased has been identified as Rabindra Giri, aged 38, whose body was discovered near Udaipur in the Bhograi block around 2 PM on Tuesday. Following a postmortem, the body was returned to his family, as confirmed by Champabati Soren, the inspector in charge of the Talsari marine police station.




Earlier, the other two fishermen, Jagannath Pal (23) and Madhusudan Giri (35), were saved near the Digha coast in Purba Medinipur district of West Bengal and are currently receiving medical care at a local facility.




Authorities are actively searching for the missing fisherman with the help of the marine police and the Coast Guard, supported by local fishermen.




For the ongoing rescue efforts, a vessel and two boats have been dispatched, and a team from the state Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Department, known as 'Sagar Mitra,' has also joined the operation.
