Weather update:Kerala has been raining continuously for the last few days, due to which the water level of many rivers and dams increased rapidly on Sunday. The low -lying areas are flooded, causing people to face a lot of trouble.
The Meteorological Department has released ‘Orange Alert’ in nine districts in view of this situation. These include Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasargod. ‘Yellow Alert’ has been released for the remaining five districts.
The Meteorological Department says that moderate rain may occur in some places and strong winds may also blow at a speed of 40 kilometers per hour.
In view of the rising water level in Palakkad, the gates of several dams have been opened. The district administration said that additional water is being extracted from Malampuzha, Mangalam, Siruwani, Meenkara and Pothundi dams.
